1. Your contact details
This one seems obvious, but sometimes in amongst the chaos of moving house, people can often forget to update their address details in their insurance policy. The same goes if you change phone numbers or email addresses – it’s important that your contact details are correct should your provider ever need to get in touch with you, or if you ever need to make a claim.
2. The policy owner
Because only the policy owner can make changes to the policy, you need to make sure that this is correct on your current insurance policy. If anything changes and that person no longer should be the policy owner, you’ll need to amend this on your policy as soon as possible because whoever is named here is the only one who can cancel or change the amount of cover in your policy.
3. Your level of cover
Ensuring that you have the right level of cover for your situation is one of the most important things to keep updated. You might have set your insurance up a while ago but does your policy meet your needs now? If your circumstances have changed and you need more cover, you need to let your provider know. If things have changed but you’re not sure what cover you need now, have a chat to one of our friendly advisers, we’ll have you sorted in no time!
4. Your payment details
If your payment details are incorrect and you miss payments because of it, you may not be covered. If you decide to use a new bank account or you’d like to pay using a different method, the first thing you’ll need to do is update this with your insurance provider so you can make sure your payments are going through correctly and that you’re covered 24/7!
